Hia Everyone,
Boy have I got loads to tell you all.
I hope you are all keeping well :-)Its been a long week and a bit and I am glad to be back relaxing and doing my usual videos both on here and my Youtube channel.
To start with, I was contacted by the BBC and they wanted to do a story on me all about how far I have come in my 10 months on Youtube and what I want to achieve for the future. Firstly they filmed me at my home whilst I made a video. (Yes, I can hear your hearts pounding), well so was mine. It's something to do a video from your bedroom and upload to millions of people, but to do all of that without a sweat and a camera guy stood right behind you is just something else. I got on with it anyway but couldn't help the odd twitch of nerves and letting you all know so in my description box at the side. I knew you would be watching and wondering why I was acting so odd. Well there you have it :-)
After filming me making my video they then took me for coffee at my local café. Everything went brilliant except for the usual South Shields blistering showers and bleakest of bleak skies. We then headed off back home to catch my little boy (Jordan) arriving back from school. Me, Jordan & the BBC were off to the park with the dogs (Mindy & Phoebie) for a little interview so that Jordan could have a little talk on camera. He clambered up at times and I had to pat him on the back and ensure him he was ok. It all went well though and he made me proud. Later that day I was going to be filmed at my local college in front of my class, which again made me gulp but hey I did it and would do it all again. The college put on a great display and everyone looked happy. My model for the evening (Amy) was great and even better because she is so beautiful to start with. I applied my usual favourite concoction of greens, greens and more greens. She looked fab and so I was very pleased. She did great considering she was on camera and had to start bare with no make up. I know a lot of girls which would have hated that. Me being one of them at times ;(
The next day drew close and whilst being excited I was worried as what lay ahead I had never done before. Me and the BBC team headed up to Gateshead Metrocentre where they have a huge Superdrug store with a Barry M make up counter. It was great because we were told we could use what we liked and all the staff there were gems and helped when they could. I was so pleased to use the Barry M range because everything is so vibrant and funky and all products went down a storm. I had 8 people in total who accepted my offer to get their make up done. It went great and after my first client, I went from strength to strength and didn't want to stop. My only downfall of that day is that I was boiling and because a little overweight and nervous I was sweating which made it hard for me to concentrate and do a better job than I had liked. I was so embarrassed I could have quite happily been swallowed up by the floor. All my victims were lovely and were happy with their make up so that made me glow too. I used all Barry M products and they were loved by everyone who had their make up done. The most important product I used was the Shimmering eye and lip crayon no#1. I used this as the base for the Dazzle Dusts and everything worked just fantastic. Everyone wanted to know what exactly I had used to get the eye shadow like that so it definitely did make an impression. In fact I would go as for to say its my new staple of Barry M's range because you can use them for bases or on there own for eyes and for lips. (Perfect).
That day I was wearing a very light colour combination and I have a tutorial coming up on here with the look. Perfect for if you want to look cute and freshly made up but not. If that makes sense? It does to me ;) I used the Dazzle Dust Ice Pink dd1 with Barry M's eyeliner pen in black along the upper lash line and slightly winged. I'm so glad to tell you all now that the eye liner pens are available on the Barry M website in lots of different colours and I do love all of them, only the pink isn't for me. To be honest though pink has never been for me but I know thousands of girls love pink. So if you're a pink fiend then you will certainly love the pink eye liner pen. There are some new Dazzle Dusts coming out soon too and I can't blummin wait! I wonder what they will be like? I love imagining new colours and what not. The coloured mascaras are the bees knees and I love them. I have never came across a make up brand who offers vibrant coloured mascaras, other thank those with the usual brown, black and navy. You know what I mean. So if you are like me and you love a little bold colour on your face, then I would definitely suggest checking them out on this site. There is green, purple, blue, turquoise ,pink and the most obvious of all black. If your stuck for ideas on what to do with your new coloured mascaras when you get them then check out my tutorials on here because I will be waving my magical, colourful wands in many ways :-)
The morning after was fun, getting out of bed.. (Well crawling should I say) with the stiffest and most painful neck ever. I swear I had been kickboxing in my sleep that night. I must, I must improve my..Posture! next time ;) It was the last day of filming with the BBC and we were off to see Ruby Hammer at her home in London. We arrived by train fairly early and decided to have a coffee. Before that my friend Matthew who works in PR on behalf of Barry M joined us for a small interview and it was lovely to see a familiar face. He did a fantastic job in front of the camera and I remembered thinking (wow look at the confidence) You see I don't have that much just yet, But I am working on it. The BBC & I made a move over to Ruby's house and I then started to get nervous.. They drive me crazy at times, do the old nerves. Just when you need to get your point across or ask that million dollar question you clam up. Well I did far too often and so I missed my golden opportunity to get in there with all my questions. Luckily the BBC saw I was acting odd and stepped in with the questions we had previously discussed on the way there. I felt like I let everyone down that day but more than anything I let myself down. She was great and beautiful, almost intimidatingly so. With perfect teeth and huge confident smile, I felt like I had just about crawled into see her. She gave me some good advice which I will take on board if I do break into the beauty industry one day. Her PR agent Jo (Who I got on with greatly) ran around and bagged up tons of Ruby and Millie products for me to try which was lovely. The biggest thing for me was realising that it wasn't my weight holding me back at all. It was my own lack of confidence. Yes of course it would be better for you and your career in the beauty industry to be fit and healthy and a better size but it wasn't taboo to be different and I rather enjoyed that feeling.
I have to say that the best part of that day was meeting the people at Google. They were fab and we chatted for quite some time about different things. I was absolutely gob smacked when I arrived and they all said (Wow Hi Lauren, and then introduced me to the rest of the team and Youtube as panacea81. they all knew of me and had often watched my videos. Isn't that just amazing! I got to meet my favourite Youtube person and that was Lori Scott who I often speak to via email about any troubles I have with Youtube. She was wonderful and I am so glad I got the opportunity to meet them all. I even came away with the famous socks, hat and Youtube pen as souveniers of my visit.
Well I think I have gone on far too much for one day so I will love you, and leave you all until I am back on here soon for more bloggy woggies. I love writing them, just hope you enjoy reading them ;)
Take care everyone and speak to you all again soon,Lauren
